Excursion to Xàtiva castle
Xàtiva is a small town on the bank of the river Albaida, located on the transport artery between Valencia and Murcia. This city is considered to be home to 30 thousand people, although in ancient times it was much brisker than it is now. And also there were two Roman Popes from here. True, they were from the sad, famous family of Borgia, but who now remembers it. 700 years ago, Xàtiva was a large city and a very important shopping center. It was the second most important city in the Kingdom of Valencia, both politically and culturally.
Xàtiva is also a very beautiful city from the point of view of the old architecture. Before your eyes will open an excellent view of the old city, which is a close interlacing of streets, and it opens with the Medieval Castle of Xàtiva. Some claim that these are two castles - Castillo de Mayor and Castillo de Menor, but they are located side by side on the top of Monte Bernice. Another thing why Xàtiva is famous for its holiday called "Fallas", which takes place just before Easter and represents a colorful procession of bright figures made of papier-mâché, which the holiday participants make for a whole year.
